Anyone been to Asiatique shopping and entertainment complex on the river yet? Looks like an interesting concept. Wonder if it can survive though. Some one has sunk a lot of money into it.

Here's an initial report from someone who visited (scroll down for a link through to his blog with more pics)

I liked the Suan Lum night market. So Asiatique does look interesting. I didn't see any really great pictures though. I would also like to hear some more reviews if anyone else has been there.

Only opens at night, and it's opening clashed with Megabagna, understand numbers are down on estimates but it was up against Ikea and the likes and didn't get too much exposure

Visited on Saturday June 30. Was relatively crowded with lots of locals and a few tourists. The complex felt a bit posh now, though inside the warehouses you still get the feel of the original Suan Lum. There appears to be fewer dining options if you want down-to-earth food, but there are now a number of upscale restaurants. Wondering if this place is supposedly the replacement of Suan Lum.

Complimentary ferry to/from BTS station quite convenient, though on the way out, there was a private dining cruise that was waiting for late passengers and that blocked traffic for 15 minutes.

i'm sure it will do well... sounds

it will probably get a lot of traffic from tourists from the hotels along the river.
