OK, I am really leaving this too late: am flying to Uganda tomorrow -- was under the impression I could get a visa on arrival (am British national). Now, someone says that's not the case...am I totally and utterly in trouble?
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you still can although it's slightly more expensive than in London.
If you look here (http://www.ugandahighcommission.co.uk/ConsularInformation/VisaInfo.aspx) under Single Entry Visa it mentions visas on arrival.

Thanks BA304, that's reassuring. I've checked a few different sources and they all agree, as do colleagues also flying in, so if we're stuck, we'll be all deported together. :D
Not sure where the erroneous panic-inducing imput came from...but will find out for sure soon enough!

I'm US, and got a $50 visa on arrival at EBB a couple months ago. I have no reason to think a UK would be treated any differently.

I'm pretty sure that its still visa on arrival. I have lots of colleagues who travel there and they would have raised a fuss if things had changed.
Check out this page for US citizens. I'm sure its the same for British. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1051.html

Do they still make you pay it if you are transiting to another international flight? I would be doing JNB-EBB-BRU. SAA to Brussels Airlines.

Did they ever make you pay for transit? I did JNB-EBB-NBO maybe 2 years ago and didn't have to pay for transit. I was personally walked up the stairs to departures.

The "visa" desk is after baggage claim, on the way out of the airport. I'm assuming it's on 1 PNR since it's all *A carriers, in which case you wouldn't. If it's 2 separate tickets, you may have to "leave" the airport via the visa desk, pay the $50, and go back upstairs to check in for the SN flight.

Not true in my case. I did JNB-EBB with SA, then EBB-NBO with KQ on separate tickets and had no problems doing a visa-free transit. They were pretty common sense about the whole thing.
