Hertz - Hertz calling you during your rental?

Hertz's next great Idea or not? Just filled out survey on Hertz Hub about this. Wondering what others think?

Hertz is considering reaching out to customers during their rental period to see how their rental experience is going and ask if there is anything they can do to enhance the experience or if there are any issues or problems that customer service can help resolve.

To thank you for your feedback you may be offered a discount on your next rental. You may also be provided with an opportunity to purchase the fuel purchase option so you don’t have to stop to refill the tank before returning the rental car. You could also be afforded the opportunity to upgrade your current vehicle for a great price.

I see a lot more downside than upside....

I agree.

Hertz: "Mr. Auto Enthusiast, how are you enjoying your car?"

Me: "What? Who's this? I was just about to turn a mountain pass on I-40 when I heard my phone ring and thought it was someone important enough to warrant the distraction. Other than that, this old Yaris you gave me for a cross country one-way seems to be holding up fine, so far."

Hertz: "If you'd like, you can swap this car at the next corporate Hertz for a great deal on an upgrade. It's in...um...a small airport coming up in...hmmm...200 miles."

Me: "No thanks. I don't want any more interruptions on this trip, and I'm fine with the Yaris. It's good on gas and drives ok."

Hertz: "Yes, speaking of gas, would you like to pre-pay for a tank of gas at a price lower than the current pump prices where you picked up the car?"

Me: "What? Why would I want to pre-pay for a tank of gas at the exorbitant CA prices when I'm returning to NC?"

Hertz: "Oh that's right. Would you like to pre-pay below the NC price then?"

Me: "No. Pre-pay does not include all taxes. Besides, I'd rather have the cultural experience of meeting local people who show up at the gas station."

I don want to be called. If they're so worried about me, make sure I get a quality car to begin with.
