Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - SAA: Standby Possible on Domestic Saver Ticket?

I am flying from JNB to Nelspruit on an afternoon flight but if I get through customs quickly on my inbound BA flight (on a separate ticket) I may have time to get on the 11am connection. Does anyone know if it's possible to take an earlier flight on a standy basis on SAA if there are seats available?

Quick check of fare rules on flysaa.com says no standbys permitted.

I have four BMI business award seats over two flights for next year: CPT-JNB

Only two seats released per flight by SAA and with additional availability unlikely to appear before 31MAY (last day for bmi redemptions), how likely is it that the check-in agent will allow one of the two couples to move flights so they all fly together - assuming availability of course?

SAA is pretty strict about moving pax onto earlier flights these days. There is a recent thread of someone on an award booking ranting about this.

In that thread the good news was that they would do it for a nominal fee - R200 IIRC.

Surprising my experience is if they have room on earlier flights SAA often times asks if I want to fly on the earlier flight as recently as early April, 2012.

That's good to hear. Was this on an award ticket?

No I think I missed that part of the question.
