KLM Flying Dutchman - Online checkin and pre-assigned seats is a joke, but not in a funny way!

So, we're assigned two seats in row 22 (GVA-AMS, both FBG) when there is clearly better seats further up front available (better seat pitch) so I change these of course. Basically this means that "pre assigned" seats are just pure random and worthless :td:
Also, the biz section is quite small and I don't believe there are 22 rows less 6 in biz = 16 rows of elite/elite+ before I'm given a seat as a pre-assignment :( I did checkin T-16 but it should have a say should it?
Oh and to add insult to injury, due to "technical reasons" BP's are not printable BUT a Confirmation sheet which looks just like a BP is PDF'd with seats and all. If it makes any difference we both connecting to MAN from AMS later (same with the seating here btw)!!! What's the point then?
I'm starting to get quite tired of this tbh

Out of curiosity, what is your seq. number?

this seems standard - FB Plat (both of us) in separate rows all the way in the back - change myself to first row in Y with sec no below 8.
pre-assigned means messed up !
it happens more often on AMS-GVA (where this is standard) - on GVA-AMS is goes quite well normally but apparently the out-station is then responsible.

Experienced the same flying out of TXL last weeek... was placed in the back of the bus - with plenty of seats available in the front....what a way to treat your E+ customers!

They always assign me a seat in the first few rows after the curtain...
Just printed a BP for a flight tomorrow, the first 2 rows behind the curtain appear to be kept clear for elites, of whom only one other has been seated at the front.

On Tuesday I had the same issue with a combined KL and AF ticket: Only a confirmation document, and not the real BP available after OLCI. I asked their Facebook support but they didn't find anything wrong with my ticket. IT mysteries..

Well for me a mixed bag. On one flight I was assigned 22 as well, another I was assigned row 4. Neither were my preferred aisle seat however.
More oddly, I could not chose any exit rows, they were all shown as full even though I did check-in at T-30 and checked again at T-24. I even contacted the normally helpful Twitter team who said they couldn't change it.
I'd be surprised if its not wide open when I get to the airport tomorrow!

As I was going through the central security check at Schiphol on Saturday, I noticed that the lady in front of me had one of those KLM "Confirmation Document - This is not a boarding pass" printouts too. The guy policing the fasttrack line spent a lot of time looking at it, but only seemingly to try and work out if she was entitled to use fasttrack (she had to fish out from her wallet/purse what appeared to me to be a Lufthansa(?) Miles & More card) but she was eventually allowed through, but with no warning about her lack of a real boarding pass.
Of course, she could probably have got one easily at the self-service machines or transfer desks airside, but I got the distinct impression that neither she, nor the security guy, realised that she didn't have a boarding pass.

Was this from the non-Schengen to the Schengen area? There was no fast-track for E/E+'s going the other way on Friday morning other than the subscription (previum or whatever it's called)... Looks like they are making some changes to the lay out (?) but strange that no temporary solution has been put in place for the rest of us :( Don't use AMS for other than Schengen flights so not a bother but still inconvenient...
Flying back from MAN on Sunday, I checked in early'ish and got the first available row behind C. When boarding the class divider had moved up 7 rows and again clearly non Elites were sitting with a middle seat free :td:
At least or bag came out among the other Priority labeled bags in MAN and kind of in GVA (among the first 10 I'd say)...

No, this was intra-Schengen. As AMS is my home airport, I've never had to transfer there - but regardless of whether you're flying to a Schengen or non-Schengen destination, when you start travel from AMS, there is priority line (a specifically-designated priority line at security, "policed" by airport security staff, in the Schengen zone; a KLM staff member checking for "SkyPriority" boarding passes that allows you to bypass the queue for passport control, near the Privium reader, in the non-Schengen KLM zone).

From non-Schengen -> Schengen airside there was a E/E+ line last time I checked. To the left of the booths IRRC.

And it sure was there on Sunday, but that was not what I wrote in my post! When was the last time you crossed?

So we're back to the useless seat assignment by KLM.
When doing the Online Check in this morning we were pre-assigned seats in row 18, i.e. the last of the three available Y segment. Clicked on the first segment to discover that the flight was more or less empty (at the time of check-in) and choose seats in row 6. Only a chunk in middle was X'ed out, all others where up for grabs.
For those who are interested in seq numbers it was below 10 for both PAX.
Why, oh why??? This must clearly be a miss from KLM's side or?
My connecting flight gave us seats all the way up front with the same scenario of a more or less empty flight (at the time of check-in).
Should I ask KLM why this is or would I just be wasting their (and my) time?

I would drop a message to KLM (on Facebook is possible).

Thanks for the tip G ^
One question: By PM or on their wall?

One question: By PM or on their wall?
Wall post does not normally work well.
If possible it happens to you another time can you please make a screen shot and send it to me?
I can then directly send it to KLM (as discussed during that select seating is supposed to be applied unless circumstances so dictate).

Again thanks ^
I did take a screen shot showing that row 18 was crossed out and substituted with seats in Row 6 instead... Would this be sufficient?

Sent a query to FB/KLM yesterday why this had happened so I'll post whatever they come back with of excuses if it can have any interest ;-)

So, FB sent me a mail telling me that it was an issue with KLM so they forwarded it to the airline.
Got another mail today from KLM Addressing each issue in some-what-detail and offered me 10'000 more miles for the inconvenience. I'm of course happy about the miles, BUT I'd rather have the seating selection fixed once and for all instead of telling me it's a technical glitch... I have received a fair amount of free miles this way and now I feel guilty every time (not that I send THAT many views) I send them a mail as I now sound like a grumpy old man (I'm neither old nor grumpy) looking for free miles which I'm NOT doing :(

come on, man, most people would sit on the wing if they were getting 10,000 miles!!! (that's as much miles as I'd get in 53 sectors on my most common routes, tier level bonus excluded ...)
