Hyatt Gold Passport - Which Park Hyatt: Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

Hey all,

I'm going to have about 36 hours in the UAE this summer before a EY flight to Europe and am trying to decide whether I would rather stay at the PH Abu Dhabi or Dubai.

I'm a Diamond and will be booking a revenue room - the prices for each are basically the same. I'm leaning towards Abu Dhabi after reading a few reviews but would love to hear your thoughts. It'll be my first time in the UAE.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

If you are just going to spend most of time in the Hotel than Abu Dhabi can be a good option and if you want to go outside around the city than Dubai Park or even Dubai Grand is a good one.

AUH if you are a beach person, DXB if you are more a city person.

The beach is nothing to talk about IMHO at Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi. The pools are nicer at the Park Hyatt Dubai. The service and Diamond treatments miles better at the Dubai property.

OP is flying out of Abu Dhabi, but is she/he flying into Dubai?

Thank you for the suggestions - I think I'm now leaning towards the PH Dubai.

I can fly into DXB or AUH and will be flying out of AUH in EY F, so have access to the chauffeur service from Dubai.

Thanks again!

The pool is nicer at the PH Dubai, but the beach was quiete nice and calm in AUH.

It is about two hours drive from DXB to the Abu Dhabi (and oddly enough, not many gas station on the way with long queues) so I would stay in Dubai. The Park Hyatt is a great property, the pool is quite unique, especially in the evening. Traiteur has a great brunch with Veuve Clicquot ŕ volonté....at a time where most Hyatt properties overcharge for 50 gr of pasta with 25 gr of chicken, this is worth going to...Hyatt like it used to be before it went away from the hospitality business into the financial world. Grand Hyatt has a nice outdoor pool (and also indoor - and it gets very warm...so don't smile). The Grand Club has a great view and there is nearby public transport station which connects you to the city center (and the airport). Also the evening on Terrasse, at the PH Dubai, facing the marina are quite unique. If you get tired of the Hyatt Restaurants, there is a great restaurant at the nearby Country Club.

Quick question. Google Maps says the PH Abu Dhabi is around 45 mins from AUH and PH Dubai is around 1hr30. But the distance to the PH Dubai is 3-4 times as far and both look like primarily highway. Is this correct? If so, that really takes away much of the convenience factor argument for Abu Dhabi...

My preference, I think, reading about the two would be Dubai as we're laying over for 2 nights en route to MLE, so beach isn't super important, and EY Chauffeur is free either way...

AUH PH is approx 25 min from the airport and the Dubai PH is around 60-75 mins. This of course can vary dramatically if you are driving during peak times such as rush hour.

Both hotels are wonderful. Abu Dhabi is right on the beach and a new property while Dubai is a bit older (well maintained) but perhaps more to do as its closer to the city center. Both treated Diamond status wonderfully.

Just stayed at both properties earlier this month and really you can't go wrong!

The one sentence that sums it all up - both for PH Dubai and Hyatt in general. I haven't been to AUH other than the St Regis next door. The beach is nice but otherwise you are in the middle of nowhere. So it all depends on the hotel itself. PH Dubai (together with Beijing) remains my all-time Hyatt favorite.
