As I'm in Kabul right now, it seemed appropriate to post this...
I can attest to the fact this country has some very beautiful areas - lakes, rivers, mountain passes, etc. I've even flown over where the Buddhas once were.
For the record, I do not live in daily fear of being shot, blown up, or kidnapped...

If you can put aside fear of being shot, blown up or kidnapped – in other words, basically pretend that Afghanistan is not in the grip of a brutal and seemingly interminable war – the country boasts some truly breathtaking tourist attractions
