I see that the above route uses either a 777-200 or A330.

Can I ask are these regional configured? i.e. old seats?

Thinking whether to go with CX or MH on this route.

Will be travelling with wife and a 23 month old.

The flights with the B772 have the international configuration, whereas the A330 is the old configuration (no PTVs).

Yes. The B772 has the angled lie-flat J seats. MH is currently sending the old A330 with recliner J seats to HKG. The new A333 (with the new livery) has the angled lie-flat J seats but the angle is a bit steeper than on the B772.

I wonder why MH don't send the newer planes to HKG like what SQ does :)

IIRC the newer A333s will be deployed on MH74/75 starting August/September this year.

Yes. Definitely new Y seats on the new A333.

New Y seats on the new A333s are slimline seats with bigger PTVs and 32" pitch. Old Y seats on B772 are thicker (and more padded) with 34" seat pitch but small PTVs.

Thanks. I would prefer a bigger pitch I think compared to bigger PTV...
