Hoping this is true but the link just takes me to a generic IHG home page. Like to pair this with the $50 for 2 weeknight stay promo for some fast cash.

"Fast" cash? Last year -- and it looks like it works the same way this year as well -- the cash (actually a debit card) took several weeks to arrive. You submit (by mail, with an optional pre-submission online) a rebate form & supporting documents, etc., etc., etc. It's not like they pay you on the spot at the hotel or anything! @:-)

(Not that there is anything wrong with that -- it just isn't "fast cash.")

If I have a stay from Wednesday thru the next Monday, can I submit both the $50 Travel Bonus and the $75 Vacation Pay rebate for the same stay? Can I mail in both rebate registration and pre-submittal forms together or do they have to be mailed separately? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thats what I want to know. I have a Friday night stay advance purchase already paid for. However, if they accept it, I'll go ahead and book another advance purchase night for the $75 promotion. (The rate is only $61 after taxes!)

I just read the promotion rule again and I believe I would qualify. However, I've never done an "advanced pay rate" before. if I book another "advanced purchase rate" night, do I get 2 invoices? Do I get any? (They charged my credit card last week for a stay that is more than 2 weeks from today...)

Yes, and if you read that email, you'll read this:
------------------
Print your proof of registration
(Clicking the below button will open your proof of registration in a new window to print - You must print and send this in to be eligible)
-----------------
I think some people last year got rejected because the "email" was not acceptable as proof of registration. The "printout" looked a lot more official and included the all-important registration date. (Last year's email did not).
YMMV. I'm just saying... print out the web-page just to be safe....

It works as a prepaid MasterCard. You can use it anywhere where prepaid MC's are accepted. Not sure if they are only usable in the US.

Go for it, but I would mail both rebates separately. I would guess they'll each go to different departments and/or P.O. boxes.

Indeed, if one reads the instructions for both rebates, the PO boxes & zip codes are identical, but the "departments" (actually the Rebate Offer Number/Promotion Code) differ in the last digit.

And we all know that if one does not follow the instructions to the letter, the rebate processing company is likely to use that as an excuse to deny the rebate.

Reading the Terms and Conditions it states: Maximum four (4) rewards per household during the promotion.

I will be moving to a new property soon but have already submitted the maximum of 4 rebates. Since I will have a new household address, can I submit an additional 4 rebates? This may be an unique scenario not directly covered in the terms, so any advice from fellow FT'ers would be appreciated.

To be safe I would call up the hotel and see if they can add another night to your existing reservation (or ich) that way when you check out you can ask for a printout of the charges and both nights will show up together on one invoice. Not sure if that will fly but I think you would have better luck than having 2 separate invoices.

I've done consecutive one night rewards reservations (just did 9 in a row at the Staybridge Suites in NYC) and back to back multi-night reservations for promos (and been approved for the rebates) and never had to go the front desk again during my stay until check-out. When they check you in, they would be able to not only have you in the same room for the entire 4 weeks but set your key card up for that length. Just make sure you get a copy of each bill (8 of them...as you'll need a minimum of 8 reservations) to submit.

I have done numerous back to back reservations over the years at all chains. I do agree with you, but it is probably easier if you physically check in/out of each of the reservations and get the folio at that time.

Thanks for the response. I had not thought about breaking the stay up into separate reservations for purposes of rebate submission. I'll be sure to pick up a folio for each stay as I complete them. I greatly appreciate the info/advice.

A similar question to the 4 week stay above: can one use the same reservation for both the $75 weekend vacation pay and the $50 weekday bonus if it contains both 2 weekend nights and 2 weekday nights? I have a 1 week+ stay coming up, and I'd book the nights in back-to-back 2 night blocks so I can stack the bonuses except that the property has a reduced rate for stays of at least a week.

No, you can not submit the same reservation for two or more rebates.

Even though the $50 Travel Bonus and the $75 Vacation Pay are separate promos? It doesn't seem to be explicitly prohibited, but I'm curious if anyone has any experience with it as I can see them trying to deny it as well.

It doesn't seem to be explicitly prohibited, but I'm curious if anyone has any experience with it as I can see them trying to deny it as well.Yes, it is explicity prohibited if you know how to read the terms and conditions.

"A stay is defined as two consecutive weekday nights (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out".

That alone would prohibit your idea.

Under your idea, someone could stay 4 weeks consecutively under the SAME reservation and end up getting $500. It doesn't work that way.

The way to do it is to split your reservations if you want the rebates. That way you get seperate folios (and more bonus Priority Club Rewards points, if you're working on those, too).

Antipode
Jun 25, 12, 2:50 pm
Under your idea, someone could stay 4 weeks consecutively under the SAME reservation and end up getting $500. It doesn't work that way.

Umm, no. Because then you would need to apply for the $75 rebate 4 times on the same reservation, which is prohibited by the T&C as it says that only one $75 rebate will be awarded per weekend stay. Similarly for the $50 rebate which says only one $50 rebate per weekday stay. That seems to prohibit someone from taking one reservation with multiple weekends and apply for one rebate per weekend. It does not, however, prohibit one from taking the weekday part of it and submitting it for the $50 rebate.

I'm not saying it will work, but under the terms for the $75 rebate and the terms for the $50 rebate (which are two different promotions, albeit run by the same rebate processing company), they should not be mutually exclusive.

If I could book the days separately I would, but the rate reduction for the a 7+ day stay is enough that the additional rebates would be cancelled out by the higher room rate.

Antipode
Jun 25, 12, 3:02 pm
Yes, it is explicity prohibited if you know how to read the terms and conditions.

Actually, if you read the terms, here's what it says

for the Vacation Pay promo:
One $75 rebate ($75 Vacation Pay Prepaid MasterCard®) will be awarded on a qualifying minimum two-night weekend stay

for the Travel Bonus promo:
One $50 rebate ($50 Travel Bonus Prepaid MasterCard) will be awarded on a qualifying minimum two-night weekday stay

NEVER does it say that only one $75 rebate or $50 rebate per stay as they are two different promotions.

"A stay is defined as two consecutive weekday nights (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out".

That alone would prohibit your idea.

Actually, under your interpretation, splitting it up to multiple reservations with separate folios would not let you get multiple rebates since regardless of frequency of check-in/out it would be considered one stay. But we know that's not true.

CalItalian
Jun 25, 12, 7:50 pm
This is actually on the $75 weekend stay t&c's...notice their mistake at IHG. Regardless, nobody will ever be paid out more than one $50 or $75, not both, per RECEIPT.

"Limit one reward per person, receipt, household, family or address per qualifying weekday stay."

Are "Book Early & Save - Advance Purchase" rates eligible?

I have the same question. But, from the T & C's on the website, it appears as though these will qualify. Can anyone confirm?

A stay is qualified when paying qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates. Qualifying Room Rates do not include the following reduced room rates: net wholesale individual and group rate, certain package rates, employee discount rate, friends and family rate, crew rate, special discounted contract rates, seasonal worker/crew rate, 50% travel club discount rate, travel industry discount rate, distressed passenger rate, Priority Club Rewards Nights/Airline Hotel Reward rate, Best Price Guarantee Free Reward rate, complimentary hotel stays and any other rates not defined as a Qualifying Room Rate. Also excluded are opaque rates and “name your own price” rates (where hotel name, location and/or rate not visible until after booking is submitted).

Hello,

My company has two kinds of discounts with IHG...

1 - where we travel to alot, we have deeply discounted rates
2 - where we don't travel to a lot, we have the % chain-wide discount (e.g. xxx GOLD rate) - it is usually about the advanced purchase rate but without the advance purchase requirements

Does the "special discounted contract rates" disqualify both #1 and #2 or just #1?

Thanks.

Hello all,

If I understand correctly, you will get $75 prepaid card for two nights stay.

In my opinion, this offer is roughly on par with Marriott Mega Bonus offer, which will give you one free night cat 1-4 for every two stays. In essence, for paying the cost of two nights, you will get a free night cat 1-4 that is often valued around $100. It is true that $75 is less than $100, but I am willing to take a little bit less cash ($25 less in value), just because it is cash.

Am I understanding this correctly? Thanks for your advices.

I think the offer is only valid for US properties and Marriott's certs can worth up to $200 depending on where you'd like to stay.

I never have trouble getting my free certs from Marriott but I read tons of horror stories here on FT about how IHG not credit missing pts/or giving out gift cards etc.

I had to chase my $50 card from a recent promo. After realizing it hadn't shown up, I dug out an earlier e-mail with a tracking link - and on clicking that link I was taken to a page that informed me my claim was invalidated due to 'confirmation number missing from hotel invoice' (or words to that effect). There had been no new e-mail to alert me that my claim was denied.

I sent an SM pointing out that this simply wasn't cricket - and that I had mailed them the invoice their hotel had handed to me (I have no control over what is printed on it). They wrote back within a couple of hours to say they were granting the rebate 'as a one-time exception' and I should get my PP card within a few weeks.

Shortly after I got one of their standard CS surveys via e-mail. I completed it noting how while I had got what I wanted, the way in which the message was conveyed was unacceptable - if the same thing happens again I expect them to fix it again - no "one time" about it.

Not to rain on your parade, but search this forum for other threads about this offer. I understand it has been sheer agony trying to collect these cards from IHG; lots of phone calls and e-mails to CS. I'm sure others will clarify.

I haven't had trouble getting my stays approved; but they have been slow in mailing out the cards. Got my first two $75 cards about a week ago...my other 2 stays (using BOGOs) were approved and are due to get mailed out "within 30 days", though as last year taught me, I have a different definition of 30 days than their fulfillment house does...

Yes you can, just received both for my 4-night stay in June.

Yup, looks like I was right. I haven't received the actual cards yet but both were approved.

1 application / rebate. So yes to your first question.

My claim for a recent stay at the Birmingham, UK HI was initially denied. Reason: invalid dates.

The hotel receipt showed 04/08/2012 for my 04 August arrival; the processing center read it as April 08 !!

Jeez.

I sent four $50 rebates (4 separate envelopes) and one $75 rebate on the same day. I received the $50 rebate cards about 6 weeks after submission, but I'm still waiting for the $75.

I've done hundreds of rebates over the years. This idea would never fly. Never.

Yes, it is explicity prohibited if you know how to read the terms and conditions.

This is actually on the $75 weekend stay t&c's...notice their mistake at IHG. Regardless, nobody will ever be paid out more than one $50 or $75, not both, per RECEIPT.

Well it's a good thing I'm a nobody who doesn't know how to read :D I just received three cards for a single stay on a single folio: 2 for weekday periods and 1 for the weekend period. Furthermore, they gave me $100 for one of them -- I guess they decided to be generous and give me Mon/Tues and Wed/Thurs off one submission :)

Might I suggest that if you've never submitted two or more rebates for the same item on a single purchase that you're doing it wrong? There are frequently multiple rebate promotions running on the same item and sometimes an item is even advertised as having two or more rebates for the total discount. This was especially true during the glory days of Staples Easy Rebates when there were almost always items that were being advertised as having 2-3 rebates all administered through Staples Easy Rebates.

Worked fine for me too -- $500 via four receipts instead of eight receipts.

forgive me if my question is not in the right section, but I have searched and searched. Dread seeing someone yell at me on line. I stayed 13 nights in August at the Willard IC and registered for the $75 prepaid MC in July. Got the email with the congratulations you have successfully registerd etc. Been trying to go on line to print out the rebate form and cannot find it. Am I too late? This promo only ended Sept. 3. I did an online chat on the promotions web site, but that was useless, she said call the hotel. I did that, but they do not have a rebate form and were not aware of it. Any idea on how to get the rebate form that goes in with the bill and proof of registation? Thanks

I think it is too late. From the Terms and Conditions:

Rebate documents required:

1) Copy of your Registration Confirmation, 2) Hotel folio with reservation number (bill) and 3) Rebate redemption form which can be found at www.ihgrebate.com along with copies of the other required documents as stated above to the address shown on the rebate redemption form. Rebate redemption form must be postmarked no later than October 3, 2012. Any rebate redemption form postmarked after October 3, 2012 will not be honored.

It is under "final"processing until IHG releases cash to fund the promotion.

Not a fan of pre-registering and registering for these rebates.
