Over on the UA board, gate 24 is listed as one of the new temporary T1 gates that UA will be using for various West Coast flights for a temporary period. Is that an error? Any word from AS peeps?

Doesn't make much sense, since there seem to be other gates in Terminal 1 that seem to be minimally used.
Although, Alaska doesn't really use 24 that much, they absolutely need it during the peak AM for flights going to Mexico and then in the 7-9 PM evening rush.

When I was standing over by gate 31 on Monday, some lady was trying to find gate 69 for her connecting "US Airways" flight and then was upset that she couldn't find a US Airways agent anywhere. Oy.

If UA passengers are going to have to haul between T1 and T3 for connections on a regular basis, that's a real pain.

I was recently told by one of the SFO Boardroom agents that AS would be dropping a gate due to SFO's relatively high fees. No clue which gate, however.

Yup, UA pax are going to have to transit over to T1 for some SoCal flights. Looks like gate 24 (which I believe was an AS gate) it moving over to UA, amongst others.

Great. Just what we need: more people in that awful security line.

It really is awful and slow. Also that whole terminal is so crowded in the eveing already. Hard to get anything to eat or drink it seems and is already busting at the seams.

This struck me this morning for AS 303. Printed my BP last night, so no gate on it. Proceeded through security in T1, got all the way to the Board Room and was informed that my flight was out of A3A in the International Terminal. The Board Room staff were very helpful, but, come on! Passengers on two flights a day have to figure out that they are departing from a completely different terminal, away from all of the AS ground services?? Not cool.

I was a bit early, so I made it to A3A right before the flight started boarding. Gates 20 and 22 were, by the way, empty. A shuttle service would be much appreciated, or perhaps some improved signage and/or a notice on the AS front website, (or even better, securing another gate in T1). Sorry if I've missed something obvious here and just didn't get enough coffee this morning . . .

Glad I saw your post, because this just happened to me (on flight 231 to PDX tonight). Printed BP earlier today, no gate. Got to terminal and it was switched to A5.

Was your inbound flight from Mexico? The last flight to PDX always comes from Cabo, and it has to stop at the intl terminal first for customs. Then it gets wheeled over to Gate 20. I guess it saves a few minutes there? (although it's always delayed...)

I was originating at SFO this morning. My plane may have come in from Mexico the night before (or maybe they're reversing the towing!). Glad you got it sorted out.

AS gates are in the ghetto, yes GHETTO of SFO. It is probably the worst of any of their stations (ok, of the ones I've visited in the lower 49).

Agreed. Terminal A was a nice change of pace.

I'm not sure I'd agree. BUR is a small airport, which is nice, but the AS gate area isn't exactly swank. I wouldn't take AS's gates at PHX over SFO, either. Thankfully LAX T3rdWorld is now out of the discussion...

You clearly have never been to Miami. Or San Diego. Both are infinitely worse than SFO. SAN especially.

At least I can afford to DO ANYTHING after buying something to eat/drink in SAN vs. SFO T1. The sandwich shop right before the WN gates makes me cringe just by looking at it.

I actually think the SFO gates are (were) just fine. The Board Room is convenient, there isn't much walking involved, and at least they are close to the beginning of the T1 concourse, not out at the end. Terminal A has a lot more to recommend it architecturally, but it doesn't have any Alaska ground services. A wholesale transition to Terminal A would be great if they opened a new Board Room or got access to another airline's facilities (unlikely, since they are all international carriers I believe), and opened check-in desks. Short of that, the schlep between terminals is a pain IMHO.

You think Max's is bad? Try the Subway at the C gates in LAS: $14.99 for a footlong sandwich. With a drink, you're pushing $20. Everything at LAS is outrageously expensive. Same for the restaurants in SMF--at least the $14.99 salads are somewhat more tasty.

You can use the DL SC over there (if you're a BR member).

My one complaint about AS running some flights from the A gates: there's no warning. If you didn't mention they were running a few flights from the intl terminal, I'd roll up to the airport 60 minutes before departure, only to be faced with a 20 minute walk and god only knows how long in security over there. The AS security line does move relatively quick at T1, if you ignore the line dragons who scream at you in unintelligible english.

Yeah, I tend to spend about six minutes inside LAS, as I typically head straight to the United club when taking the first flight out in the a.m., and straight out the door when arriving, to get in the god awful cab line. Good call. That said, between Max's and whatever other random paninis and awkward asian food T1 has, it's no fun. I'll stick to fruit in the BR.

As for the A gates, haven't had that happen yet. That's really pretty crappy about the warning situation. I wonder if my FlightTrack will catch it and alert me, as I almost always roll up 45 minutes before my flight (usually the last one or two of the night, SFO-SEA) at the earliest, all carryon, and either using CLEAR (now that it's back) or cruising the elite line.

Ugh. Not looking forward to that, super appreciative of y'all pointing it out as a possibility.

Oh nice. I hadn't realized Delta had a Sky Club in Terminal A. I'll check it out the next time one of my AS flights gets relocated.

For future reference: returning to SFO last night I saw a new sign in the International Terminal that said Alaska flights 231 and 303 depart from Terminal A.

Yes, only flights 303 and 231 dept from Concourse A. Hopefully AS has/will put a sign Outside security at t1 reminding pax of this.

For what it lacks in swankiness, BUR more than makes up for in convenience and efficiency. There's never any security lines to speak of, no nude-o-scopes, and the rental cars are but a few steps from the terminal.

SAN T1, on the other hand is a claustrophobic mess with slow security that's usually packed with kettles on vacation. IMO, it makes LAX T3 look state of the art. LAX T6 is alright I suppose, but I miss the views from T3.

I haven't been through EWR since AS moved from A-B, but from what I recall it was along the same lines as SAN and decidedly worse than SFO.

just noticed all the flight#'s changed recently as well as the schedule.

Does anyone know now if AS is still flying some SFO flights out of terminal A? Last I heard it was the SFO to SEA 10:10 departure #305 but that flt no longer exists.

I want to avoid surprises since I tend to cut it close when departing out of SFO.

 The SFO/SEA schedule is sparser than ever. 0700, 0920, 1300, 1700, 1955, 2055. All on 734s (at least in early Dec.)

OAK/SEA is now 0620, 1000, 1420 and 1805

OAK/PDX is down to 3 a day (all QX), with the first flight at 1210

SJC/SEA is 4 a day, with a gap between 0955 and 1455

AS 305 at 10:10 shows up in the schedule for the week of Dec 20 (though not early Dec).
