Club Carlson - Europe family room awards?

Planning a swing through Ireland and UK and wondering if CC points can be used for "family room" or anything upgraded. Of all the properties I've checked so far, only standard rooms (2-3 people max) show as available with points, even at properties that offer family rooms for cash.
I don't want to chase a bunch of CC points in promos this spring if they aren't usable for four people to a room.
Anybody have experience with this?
In Europe you can't offiicially squeeze 4 people in a room with a few exceptions. One thing you could do is to book 2 rooms, however not all hotels have connecting rooms.
We have 3 small kids and we don't want to pay for 2 rooms so we bring our inflatable mattresses with us, and as long as you don't ask for extra things, you can squeeze your kids into the same room as you.

Nacho, you seem to be very knowledgeable about Club Carlson in Europe. Do you think there'd be anyway I could book award rooms at Radissons/Park Plazas for 2 but squeeze a 3rd in? I'm traveling with my mom and my brother, and it seems like many places I've looked at have sofa beds or at least two doubles. It seems silly to get a 2nd room for 1 person, especially because my mom is handicapped and we usually like to be close to help her out.

It depends on how you do it. Officially it's a big NO, kids are ok as long as it states kids under 17 can stay free with their parents without extra bed.
When we are travelling with our kids, we only send the one who's name is on the reservation to check-in (we don't want to complicate matter even though we make sure that we see the kids under 17 stay free thing).
If you'd like to see the official rules, have a look at booking.com - I usually get an idea about how their kids policy.
Quite often they will charge you extra person charge if you use the sofabed as a bed, but if you can sleep without the bed linen then it should be fine.
One thing though - a lot of European hotels have very tiny rooms. Check the size of the room at CC first to get an idea - 20sq. metres is not comfortable for 3 adults, you need at least 25 sq. metres to fit 3 adults.
Sometimes when they say doubles in Europe, it's 2x 140cm beds.
It's not 'silly' to get a second room, I think it's more like whether you'd like to pay the extra cash. It's not so common in Europe to squeeze 3 adults in a room IMO, it's common for parents to book a separate room for their kids - even though they only have 1 or 2.

we stay about 2 times a month for a weekend at varios european hotels (2adults, 2 childs). I everytime book 2 rroms - one with points and one with points&cash (so this one count also for my elite status)#
my opinion: like this (2 rooms) you have also a very relaxed weekend.....@:-) )

I had never Problems to stay in a Room where the max. is 2-3 persons, with my wife and 2 childs 5 years and 3 years old and often even the extra child bed is free of charge.
I never book 2 Rooms

Can you really stay 4 people in a room in Austria without paying extra? We had to stay at Suite Novetel in Wien Messe in order to get 3 kids in - they were small (the oldest one was less than 4 yrs old).
