Africa - Thoughts on itinerary from Madagascar to Mozambique

Hello,

We’d like to get from Morondava, Madagascar (MOQ) back to Maputo, Mozambiqe (MPM) in one day and have come up with the following itinerary. I’ve heard lots of stories about delays on Air Mad and am worried about what would happen in that case considering we have three different airlines involved.

Also, would there be any advantage of booking this itinerary through a real travel agent? The only online travel site I can get to show this itinerary is Expedia and I’m concerned that if anything goes wrong, they won’t be any help. We’re prepared to accept that we may be delayed up to a day if we miss a connection, but hope that if it happens the rebooking process will be relatively smooth. Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Ben

Welcome to Flyertalk. ^

As long as you book all your flights on one itinerary/PNR then you should be fine to rebook if you miss a connection.

Sure, I know in theory that's what's supposed to happen. :)

If these were flights on more "mainstream" airlines I wouldn't even be asking this question, but after living in Africa for a while I find it's always helpful to hear from other travelers with direct experience about how things really work...

Oh I see.

SAA/Airlink should be fine about rebooking although I think they only have one flight per day from TNR. I've never travelled with LAM so I don't know what they're like.

We've flown LAM a couple times in the last year and except for the inflated prices they've been perfectly acceptable.
