Hey there,
Does anyone have an idea how to convert my miles in a smart way?
I have just under 40.000 miles (36.611) and they are ready to be deleted (July 2012).
I want to use them for my favorite airlines (TAP Portugal and GOL).
That will be tricky. I was checking which loyalty program (hotels or so) could convert my miles to TAP or GOL.
Who can tell me what to do?
Thanks!

You cannot "convert" Flying Blue miles into points in any other program - so it is impossible to do what you are suggesting.
If you want to fly, it will have to be on a SkyTeam airline.
To see what else you can do with 40,000 miles, check the new Flying Blue store (http://store.flyingbluenews.com/all-products.html?___store=default) (you can book hotel stays, car rental, gift vouchers, etc.
Alternately, you can extend the life of your miles by taking one SkyTeam flight that earns level miles in Flying Blue. (Any flight on KLM, Air France or Delta will earn level miles - on any other SkyTeam or Flying Blue partner, you must carefully check the fare classes as many cheap economy flights do not earn anything, and therefore would not extend your miles).
At the very least, rather than letting the miles expire, if any of the options above don't suit you, please be sure to donate the miles to charity.
If you live in The Netherlands or France you could take out a co-branded FB Credit Card.
Note that in The Netherlands you can take the FB Amex Entry card for E35 a year which will extend your miles for one time only with 20 months.

This should really all be in a FAQ. The question (miles expiring/conversion of miles) keeps coming up!

It partly is: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/flying-blue-air-france-klm-other-partners/1167218-faq-1-programme-overview.html regarding the expiring of miles. In due time I will add information regarding the non-possibility of converting miles.
Other option: use search function ;)
