This is very odd, this contest has the winner stay in the Dream Suite at Disneyland, but is only for states served by Alaska. However why is Georgia, Washington D.C., other parts of the East Coast are included, yet Florida is not?? Alaska does fly to MCO, thus where is the Love??

There might be something else in MCO that competes with this.
Or it could be due to the contest laws of that state.
It's always VERY frustrating that Alaska excludes good customers, who live across the state line from the airport, from entering their contests. It was the same deal with the big crack the coconuts promo last summer. Why not just hold a national contest and state that it's the winner's responsibility to get to an AS served city?

I emailed them about this, why should people in orther Alaska destinations in the North, be able to win the contest and not Floridians? I mean the fares are so high out of MCO, do they even want to compete??

As a resident of NYC I am not eligible because AS serves the NYC market by flying into New Jersey. I agree. Frustrating.

Its because some states have very punitive and complicated contest rules - Florida and New York are two of those states. In either state, if the prize is valued at more than $5,000, the contest has to be bonded. Bonding not only costs money for the hosting company but also increases the price of the company's contract with a prize agency.
Bottom-line: Don't blame AS, blame your own politicians. For their limited service to these states, it isn't worth the added costs and complexities to include.

Interesting info, except that the prizes are valued at less than $5,000.00:
8. What Prizes are available in the Sweepstakes?
a. Three Monthly Sweepstakes Period Prizes are available — one for each Monthly Sweepstakes Period.
Each Monthly Sweepstakes Period Prize is a trip for up to four people for 4-days/3-nights to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The Approximate Retail Value of each Monthly Sweepstakes Period Prize is US$4,209/CA$4,172.28.
b. One Grand Prize is available.
The Grand Prize is a trip for up to four people for 5-days/4-nights to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The Approximate Retail Value of the Grand Prize is US$4,740/CA$4,698.52.
Second prize is a month at Disneyland....
I'm disappointed that they didn't come up with something more original, but given the Rat Jet, it is logical.

Perhaps the bonding requirement is applied to the value of all prizes, in which case the total exceeds $5,000.

open to you. This sweepstakes has only be opened to those in select states and
I apologize Florida is not one of them.
I apologize for any disappointment or frustration.

It is unfortunate for some markets that this sweepstakes are not available to them, but as some one that enjoy entering sweepstakes, it is very common for residents of Alaska and Hawaii to be excluded from these types of sweepstakes. If you take a look at the sweepstakes posted on flyer talk, you will see about 50% of those are void in AK, Hi, and PR.
It is nice that this is one that we are not. So, take heart- more sweepstakes on the whole are available to those of you that are not included. Can't say that I feel too sorry for you. rlb
