Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - mvp upgrade on mixed AS + AA flights

have a trip coming SEA - MIA. The direct flight doesn't show upgrade option for mvp, but the mixed flights do. But I wonder will the mvp upgrade applies to AA leg too?

Upgrades as an AS elite are limited to AS and DL flights. We get better seats and checked luggage, but no upgrades.

Unless you get the upgrade at time of booking, as just an MVP, I wouldn't expect a complimentary upgrade on that SEA-MIA for the direct AS flight.

I'm talking about the confirmed upgrade with a "U" icon at booking, not the complimentary.

no. it only applies to the AS leg

too bad.. so it's not worth it for SEA-SFO/LAX-MIA, since the longer leg is on AA. I'd rather go non-stop, at least that keeps my hope of upgrade still alive (despite very slim.. i know..)
