Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Kris Flyer award on United query

Hi,

I am new to the points game so would appreciate some advice.I am trying to book a United Flight through my Kris Flyer programme and although united are showing award seat availability when I contact Kris Flyer they say no availability!!

Do United not release all their award seats to Star Aliance?
