MH's Golden Lounge at the Satellite terminal at KLIA is being closed for renovations and upgrading from May 9 to June 18.
Alternate arrangements are as follows:
For Enrich Platinum Members & First Class guests, they can use -
1) Regional Lounge at the main terminal building, located close to the aero train, or
2) China Airlines Lounge, Mezzanine floor, Satellite Building (close to Gates 31-37), or
3) Malaysia Airports CIP lounges at the Mezzanine floor, Satellite Building (close to Gates 31-37)
For Enrich Gold members & Business Class guests, they can use -
1) China Airlines, Mezzanine floor, Satellite Building, or
2) Malaysia Airports CIP lounges, Mezzanine floor, Satellite Building
At least this lounge is being upgraded! Looking forward to seeing it when it's finished.

Seems rather short if they are planning on major renovations.

I wonder if this is to increase capacity in preparation to join OW. If so, i just hope they could emulate SQ Gold Lounge and maintain the MH GL for First, Biz and Platinum Enrich.

Hi,
I will actually be flying out on MH140 ex Sydney between those dates, and also back again, in business
Can anyone comment on which lounge is better? the China Airlines one or the CIP?
I have the rest of the press release as below, so does this mean I can still use the Golden Regional Lounge even though im flying Business and not First?
Basicly I will need a shower!?
Thanks

As this is for the interim, some of the facilities such as the shower and Muslim prayer room (Surau) are not available at the China Airlines & Malaysia Airports CIP lounges during this time. For Muslim guests, the closest public ‘Surau' is located just across both these lounges.
For transit passengers who wish to use the shower facilities may use the Regional Lounge located at the main terminal building, close to the aero train station. As the shower facility is the only alternative available during this time, please advise customers to anticipate longer waiting time, than usual.

You will have to go to the Regional lounge in the Main Terminal building to have a shower, but only Enrich Platium and First class guests can stay in the Regional lounge. Business class passengers are excluded but you can go into that lounge just to have a shower, which doesn't really make much sense since there are hardly any First Class passengers on MH anyway.
I've seen some pictures of the CIP lounge and it doesn't look particularly great. I can't find any pics of the China Airlines lounge. Maybe someone who's been in there can comment?
I'm going to be in a similar situation as I'm travelling inside that renovation period too. Maybe I can try both and provide some feedback.

I'm going through KUL on 27th May and passing back on 7th June. I'm connecting to a domestic flight on the 27th, so I'll probably only be using the domestic Golden Lounge in the MTB but I'll probably check out the China Airlines lounge on the way back on 7th June.

I wonder how they are going to enforce this since the rest rooms / shower facilities are at the rear of the lounge
The regional lounge does get a bit overcrowded during peak hours like weekday mornings, but otherwise it's very quiet during most of the day and they can probably be more flexible during these hours.
It's downright stupid for both the MH Golden Lounge and the Plaza
Premium lounge to undergo renovations at the same time ...

This is kinda sucky. Since MH retimed the LAX flight, I now have a long layover at crappy hours at KLIA. I was expecting the Satellite Golden Lounge to be my oasis upon arrival at 4:30 am.
It's wierd that long-haul Business Class pax that would ordinarily be using the Satellite lounge are being given non-MH options in the Satellite concourse but apparently would be denied access to the MH Regional Lounge in the main building.
Am I right that my J BP to DPS will get me into the Regional Lounge in any event?
What are the opening hours of the Regional Lounge? Especially with the Satellite Lounge closed, I would hope that the Regional Lounge opens early, taking note of the LAX-NRT arrival at 4:30 am.

Im in the same boat as you, I arrive into KUL from MH 140 from sydney at 420am in the morning, my connecting flight to BKK is not until 910am, so thats about 5 hours with nothing to do, I have done this many times, and the time passes kinda of ok in the main lounge..
Can anyone comment on the China Airlines Lounge?

Sure hope so. Any confirmation of that would be appreciated.
Regional Lounge was nice, though when I passed through last year I didn't have a chance to thoroughly check it out. The Satellite Lounge looks more spacious and elaborate, so I'll miss out on that.
BTW: I checked MH.com and didn't find any info on the lounge closure for renovation.

Greetings from the Regional Lounge. Everything is normal here, except that the "living room" seating in the front has a little "First Class" sign next to it, and there is no hot water in the showers-- hasn't been for over a week. So at present, cold water showers only in transit at KLIA. :td:

Thanks for the update, for the First Class section are you reffering to the area on the lest as you enter into the lounge, generally had those huge chairs? that area is reserved for First Class? but the rest of the lounge is ok for business class pax?

When I visited the lounge last week both lounges in the satellite terminal were over-crowded.
In the satellite building the China Airlines lounge is the better of the two (as it's quieter), but the two lounges are linked, so you can get from one to the other. There's one toilet to cater for everyone.

What time of the day were you there? I can't even begin to imagine how crowded it would be in the evenings when passengers are in transit between Australia and Europe.

I was in the Regional Golden Lounge in the main building yesterday, Not very busy, the big comfy seats reserved for 1st class passengers - but amazingly still no hot water ...... and shock of shock - NO alcohol at all!!! ( sign saying working hard at this! ) the 1st Class KLIA lounge normal very generous with both quality and quantity!

currently in the MH golden lounge. it is HUGE. some notes
- powerports at the seats are not universal plugs. they are british style
- showers are 4 star, decent. you get a towel + shower gel + shampoo + hair brush from the lady in front of the restrooms. not sure if they clean the showers after each use.
- lots of hot malay food.
- free carlsberg and tiger beer
- free wifi

I know this is slightly off-topic but do anyone know if Oneworld Frequent fliers can use the Golden Lounge yet??
Im flying out of KUL tomorrow and wouldn't mind going to this lounge if I am allowed. Perhaps, though, access will only be given in the future, once MH becomes a member of Oneworld.

I visited early this morning. Even at 7.30am there was quite a variety of food available, including a delicious looking beef rendang, but I'd just spent 11 or 12 hours coming from Europe and so I was feeling too well-fed to sample anything more than the coffee.
Entry was a bit irritating, the dragons were occupying themselves with checking people in while I was just waiting to be admitted. I overcame this by just attempting to march in without their permission, which quickly gained their attention. I probably just turned up at the wrong moment.
They've set aside a section as a "Family Area" - I wish that the Mummy and Daddy of the shrieking little darling who was trampolining on the seats next to us had availed themselves of that space.

The rules for entry have changed slightly. Business class side of the Golden Lounge is for business class passengers and Enrich gold members. First class side is only for first class passengers and Enrich platinum members only now. After the renovations, the business class side has been increased and first class side reduced. The lounge is huge and there is clearly more seating available. I think they've done a good job and will be a good way for them to cope with the increased number of passengers when they join OneWorld.

There used to be a "platinum suite", which was separate from the First Class area. Didn't have a chance to check out whether it's still there or not. The Platinum Suite was reserved only for Enrich Platinum members, a bit like the Chairman's Lounge with Qantas. If it's still there, I think it will still only be reserved for Enrich Platinum members and not for OW Emerald passengers, who can just use the First Class side of the lounge..

The Chairman's Lounge (http://www.ausbt.com.au/inside-the-elite-qantas-chairmans-lounge)is why Aussies roll their eyes when foreign frequent flyers refer to their status as elite.

Yes you may access the lounge if you're on CX F.
Its relatively close to the CX departure gates. As are all the lounges FYI.
CX may even close their lounge soon since majority of people are going over to the MH Golden Lounge.

Yes, used it several times in the last 2 weeks.
As Guy Betsy says - all the lounges are close by in the satellite wing.
To find it - when you get off the aerotrain - just look up 1 level back over where your train just passed beneath. It's right there and you can't miss it.
