Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - How to use UA miles with SQ miles for an award?

Hello, I am new. I have been planning to use United miles to get an award ticket to India with Singapore Air since they are partners. SA just told me I can't combine miles. Is there any way around this? Not enough miles in either account alone for an award ticket. Thanks.

Welcome to FT!
Unfortunately there is no really good straight way of combining miles from frequent flyer programs in the same alliance. You could go through a third party like www.points.com, but the value of your miles goes way down.
Suggest you focus on collecting miles in one program.

if you can do a 1 way award from each account.

SA = South African Airlines
SQ = Singapore Airlines.

Welcome to FlyerTalk and the Singapore Airlines forum.

Note that this forum is for the use of Singapore Airlines Krisflyer miles and if you're asking about UA Mileage Plus awards, you should go to the United Airlines forum.

But as many others have said ... if you don't have enough miles on either account, then you can't redeem an award ticket. UA will redeem only return tickets.

Best for you to just buy the ticket this time and start accruing miles on one account. Remember that you may accrue miles from most Star Alliances flights to say UA's or SQ's programmes. You don't have to join that airline's programme just because you fly on them.

Whilst off topic for SQ forum, your statement is incorrect. UA do offer one way tickets . The original poster, could (if they have enough points in the respective programs) redeem oneway using Krisflyer miles and the other using UA miles.
