Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - Egypt air "orphan" mileage (~2,400) - possible uses, transfer, etc?

From my time living in Cairo, and before I was wise to the ways of mileage (possibly, actually, before MS joined Star Alliance), I accumulated a few miles flying their flights to and from Lebanon, Syria, and intra-Egypt. I have 2,381 miles now, all of which are due to expire in early 2013.

Minimum mileage for an upgrade award (and even that is only eligible on Y fares) is 12,500 for intra-Europe, 15,000 for intra-US (I'm @ DCA). You can also do Europe 1 (IST, BUD, AHN, etc.)-Middle East one-way awards for 12,500, or intra-Egypt awards for 10,000 one-way.

I don't think there's any way to keep them alive...the only thing that looks like an option is paying $350 plus an award booking fee to get a flight that would be $370 anyways.

I'm I missing anything here, or do I let these miles go sweetly into that good night? Any way to get magazines or donate them or etc?

I doubt there are any ways in which to use them, although I don't know MS's rules regarding this. Don't sweat it it is a piddly amount in a program that isn't very good anyway.

I'll check in on Topguest to get 50 HHonors points, so letting 2 grand go is hard ;)

But I suppose you're right! I guess Egyptair could use the miles back...put it towards better food next time.
