Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - Helpv with PDX-PVG on Cathay with Alaska miles

I have enough Alaska miles to fly on Cathay from SFO/LAX to Hong Kong.

What I would like to know is will I need to buy tickets for the PDX-LAX and HKG-PVG lrg, or will the alsaka mile enable me to fly the entrie trip, with tickets on Alaska on the US leg and Dragon air on the HKG-PVG leg?

AS does not have a mileage redemption relationship with KA, just with CX.

You should be able to book the entire trip on AS/CX using your AS miles. I see that there are mainline CX flights between HKG-PVG.

Your mileage redemption includes travel on Alaska to/from the international gateway, so you don't need to worry about getting from PDX to SFO/LAX
