Greetings. I haven't seen this posted previously ( this year ) so thought I would bring it to your attention;

Don't see it on the Best Western website yet. Just noticed it when I logged into my Aeroplan account.

^^

Thanks OP. I did not see this promo announced anywhere else, so I was glad to be notified.

I know that there are others here who detest BW GC's (due to certain discount codes requiring a CC prepayment). Since I get a great corporate discount with BW, using GC's is an easy way to build up AP miles.

Not so familiar with BW but have a stay coming up in July. Can I purchase this travel card, get the AP miles then switch back to BW points for the stay? I'd like to build up some in case US Air comes back with the GrandSlam. Thanks.

Yes, I have been doing this for years - thanks to this promo (and a few other things) I've flown first class to Aus, Europe several times, and the famous mini-RTW. For me the benefits still FAR out weigh the slight increase in costs (annoying nonetheless - you would figure using their gift cards would get you the best deal, not a worse one!).

Just wait for the miles to post, doesn't usually take long IME, then go to your profile and switch it back to points.

IME it is not even necessary to switch your profile to earning miles rather than points, but perhaps better safe than sorry.

I just find it a pain to manage so many BW gift card numbers, and have had some issues redeeming them in some countries, notably Germany.

Hey guys,
I've never stayed in a bestwestern before and looks like I will have to as it is the only hotel available in Jasper... A couple quick questions..

My earning is set to Aeroplan Miles, so is that 250 miles a night? Or Stay?
I need to book now for a stay in 3 days.. Could I take advantage of this promo, buy the card and use it this Sunday(3 Days)? How do these cards work?

I did get status matched to Platinum, maybe it would give me a better room but I won't be taking any BW points as I don't stay at the hotels at all.

Thanks in advance,
SKTDH

The standard reward is 250 AP miles per STAY (regardless of nights).

If you purchase the BW Travel Card before your stay, you can select the delivery method as E-MAIL whereby they'll email you the Travel Card number.

Make sure you register for a BW Rewards number before purchasing the travel card. The AP miles take 3-4 weeks to get deposited.

BTW: Don't expect much for the Platinum status. The best you can expect is a welcome snack/juice.

How do I use this travel card? Do I book my stay and bring it to the hotel and they will deduct $100/$200 off my rate? Or is there someplace I enter the travel card number while booking?

You book your room as per your usual channel (ex. through Bestwestern.com). You'll be asked to provide a CC# to hold the room. When you check in, present your travel card # (I'd suggest a printout of the email). The travel card value will be deducted from your final bill. Any remaining balance on the travel card will be printed for you on a seperate statement.

Hey guys,

Final question... To earn 3000AE miles, do I need to purchase two $100 cards, or can I just purchase 1 $200 card?

Can't believe I'm paying $200 for a night in a BW :D

A $200 card will do you just fine. Just remember it has to be divisible by $100 - had myself a "newbie" moment when I bought a couple cards at $750.

I know it's probably not necessary, but I usually buy several thousand dollars worth when this promo comes up and I would really cry if I missed out! As for the inconvenience, the first class travel makes it worthwhile.

Luckily I have not had issues with the redemption yet, but good to know about Germany!

AP miles were posted within 2-3 weeks after purchasing the BW travel cards.
