Best Western Rewards - Best Western Properties in New York City

I will spend three nights in New York next weekend. I still have three Best Western and three Hilton vouchers.

Is there some experience about the BW NY properties? The BW hotels are often more expensive than the Hilton hotels. Why is that?

Can I expect something spcial as a Diamond member in any of the NYC hotels?

Oh!? Aren't they supposed to deliver something extra?

I asked for «late check-out» at 2 PM and was gold «no». Needless to say that I didn't book with them

I stayed there once about a decade ago when I didn't know any better. It was before BW had status levels though. What I do remember is that the location seemed sort of out of the way.

While I don't know anything specifically about NYC BWs today (I've stayed in other chains, always on points/certs, on more recent trips there), I find in general that better BWs (elsewhere) by now have "Best Western Plus" (or occasionally "Best Western Premier") in the name, so if this one doesn't, that's another question mark.

In Orange County CA, for example, these days the lack of "Plus" in the name is a clue that the breakfast will likely be very minimal, etc.

Best Western Plus hotels are those that are classified as "business hotels" with some better minimum of standards.

That's a hotel to avoid if you expect something from your status. It is actually a very nice hotel but rooms are sooo small that hardly two people have space in a double room. And don't expect anything from your status. They do not even give you your Diamond gift (i.e. the food or point choice which they are supposed to give in US hotels). :td:

I stayed at the Best Western City View Inn in Long Island City once when it was $53. Big mistake, awful hotel I felt unsafe staying at.

Because of the cemetery? Can't imagine why you'd feel unsafe in an industrial neighborhood

Well the front desk was behind bullet proof glass, I checked in behind unsavory types paying with cash, the elevator was slow and lurched a lot, door chain didn't work etc.

Trust me, it wasn't the neighborhood that had me feeling unsafe.

The only BW properties in NYC that have recognized my Plat status were the Seaport Inn (Downtown) and the Hospitality House. I received upgrades to what were probably the best available rooms at both properties. The Seaport Inn also granted me a late checkout at 16:00, although no one told housekeeping .

Giving bad reviews on Tripadvisor and Holidaycheck might help them to honor next time the BW Rewards status. Corporate office do obviously not help us. All I got was 2,000 because the hotel did not honor the Diamond benefits.
