Decent fare.
Are you kidding? This is PHENOMENAL!
Why: MIA may see these fares sometimes. The rest of the country rarely ever does.
Good for holidays: currently looking at Thanksgiving and Carnival for 765 (cf I once saw a CO-JJ combo for carnival season and almost bought it because it was under 1k)
EOS!
It isn't the $300s MX fare from DFW, but it also doesn't require a very nasty MEX connection on an airline that will go bankrupt on you either.

Wondering if this is being pulled as we speak. Was using 3-letter engine to price out
came up with ~$750. Went and plugged in OP's 28JUN-02JUL dates, query returned "No Flights Found." Reentered the dates I started with above, and again, "No Flights Found."
Cleared cookies, restarted search, still no luck. However, I put in MIA-GIG as a straight r/t, and the price comes back >$1000.
EDIT: Should note that $750 a/i fare did not appear to have YQ. So maybe somebody caught wind of the fat finger error?
EDIT 2: And now the fare is back. Strange.

I did have the connection in GRU, I just was not as explicit in my post. But what I now find interesting is that the connect time in GRU to GIG (coming from ORD) is only 35 mins. Seems waaay too short, unless I'm missing something. On the way back the connect time is an hour - better, but still not great.

Hmm. Well, I thought it was a different plane (especially given the different flight numbers ORD-GRU/GRU-GIG - thought the latter segment was the continuation of the flight from EWR or IAD), but even if it's not, wouldn't one first have to clear immigration, since GRU is the first port of entry?

Did the United Fare Lock so I can figure out a cheap way to get to MIA from SFO (may just use miles). Booked a 2 week trip for end of Nov. Great price!

It would probably be easier for you to get to/from DFW since you can take non-stop flights SFO-DFW. Of course, you'll get fewer miles than if you go through MIA, but for a vacation fewer miles might be worth less hassle.

On UA to UA transfer GRU-GIG, Immigration and Customs clearance is in Rio since there is airside plane to plane transfer in Sao Paulo. It is much more streamlined now than it was in the past - transfer goes from gate to gate with no further security clearance as there used to be. (Mind you, there is a security person at the aircraft door with a table set up, so I suppose they could do a random security check.)

For any AA flyers here, the SFO/GIG fare on AA is now $1045. This is a HUGE drop from what it has been lately.

Flights out of Brazil can't have YQ because of Brazilian regulations, so perhaps they just put the YQ in the fare both ways so they don't have to deal with a YQ one way but not the other.

Jumped on this deal and will be flying back through DC then to Miami. Since I live in NYC, I'm going to just bring a carry on bag and "miss" my final leg to Miami and take Amtrak home instead. I have no history of doing this - is there any chance that the miles will not credit to my united account? I don't care about the miles for the last leg, just want to ensure that miles from the first 3 legs credit.
Thanks!

Don't forget your visa requirements -- I was going to jump on this for this weekend -- almost pulled the trigger, when I remembered l needed a tourist visa -- can't be done on arrival, must be done by your nearest consulate (IAH in my case). Might be done the same day, but no guarantee. http://houston.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/applying_for_a_visa.xml
Darn -- I love Rio, and this was indeed much cheaper than usual. Maybe later.

The IAH consulate is very quick. Brazilian visas are valid for multiple entries over 10 years, so you could apply for the visa and then buy the ticket if it is processed same day. Or buy the ticket, try to get the same day visa, and use the free 24 hour cancellation if the visa isn't ready tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry about it. IMO, the chance of you not getting the miles is < .001.

looks like this is gone... i have been watching this from dallas the last few days and it was $763 all in from DFW through end of year. I booked one in August and have an 8 day hold on one for September. Wish I had done a hold for November... oh well... I have checked this fare from DFW and IAH and AUS regularly for the last 6 years and this was one of the best I had ever found. USAir came close when they started service to GIG but this latest deal on UA was pretty great. Thank you for posting. I'm surprised it was around as long as it was.

Realized my cheap trip comes with a long layover in ORD. Perfect window for a possible MR. Has anyone seen a super cheap trip from ORD to help with the 1/2/4 deal? I've spent a couple hours and cheapest I could find (at least on 6/28) is $200 r/t DTT. Any suggestions would be super helpful...thanks!

MX had a huge mistake fare to all of south america 2+ years ago that was in the 300s.
Personally I booked 2: one for memorial day nested inside an IAH-DAL ticket. All told, for $900 I'll get 22k RDM and a weekend in Rio...
plus since I just requal'd for Silver a week ago, between the 2 trips and fall personal travel I'll get Gold for next year.
The second is thanksgiving week. I have an AM flight to DAL on monday after thanksgiving: I plan to dump the last segment but might show up at the gate to check for compensation.

Yep, the deal is gone. You had to "force" a connection from MIA to ORD (from the multiple destinations page on UA), even though the site would have done that anyway, but it prices differently, for some reason. I've been searching a few itineraries, but it indeed appears to have been yanked.
