Are you booking this segment by segment on Delta? or did you find a site that offered this itinerary? Where were your overnights?

Great, got one for Jun 8 - 10 at $301. The fare is readily available on delta, no need to search by segments. there are plenty of choices on routing for this fare (T)

Would love to book this as part of a work trip (would nest a connection on AM) but policy currently prohibits travel to Mexico. :-/

I'm not that interested in the 4k miles itinerary, The 10k mile itinerary gets me salivating.....;)

For the sample date I provided, on the more creative routing (dates found on ITA), DL multicity works well to find the routing/fare. Once you know the dates, you will search by schedule (not price):

PHL-ATL Jun 2 (via MSP)
ATL-SLC Jun 2 (overnight SLC)
SLC-MEX Jun 3 (overnight in MEX)
MEX-SLC Jun 4
SLC-ATL Jun 5 (red-eye)
ATL-PHL Jun 5 (via MSP)

this is crazy but well worth it... curious, what would immigration think? it looks like the perfect literary for a member of a drug cartel.

It's an interesting fare, but it's not really cheap enough to do "for the miles," and MEX doesn't seem like the best vacation destination.
