bmi diamond club - BAEC Tier Match, when to apply?

Hello,

I am currently a DC silver member, and have received instructions on how to perform the apply for a tier match with BAEC.

However, I am not sure as to whether there is an ideal time to do this? I seem to recall reading information on this site with regards to member year resets etc, and applying for a tier match after a certain day of the month would give me a little more time on Silver with BAEC.

Can anyone clarify?

According to BA, the tier match is opened until further notice. Thus, the strategic time to renew for most people who is not pending a status upgrade/ renewal would be approximately 4 weeks before they plan to fly with OneWorld member airlines. As BA said it takes approximately 4 weeks for the card to arrive, and some lounges will not let you in without a card. If you don't care about the lounge, you can enroll a day before your flight and enter the BAEC number during check-in.

I'm not being grumpy but can't we stick to using the Sticky for merger stuff? Clearly if you don't need to fly, its probably worth holding out for a while. I really can't believe they won't give at least one final warning that time is running out. Apart from that it seems waiting until the 9th of a month gives you an extra month of status.
