Hi, I need some help here. I will fly from London (LHR) to Hurghada (HRG) via Cairo (CAI) by Egypt Air (MS), what I need to know are:

1) Will the checked baggage go all the way to HRG or do I need to retrieve the checked baggage at CAI for customs clearance and then recheck the baggage to HRG?

2) Will I need to go through the Egyptian Immigration at CAI to have my passport stamped or will have it done at HRG?

3) If I need to go through customs and immigration at Cairo, approximately how long it will take?

4) International arrival and domestic departure will be at different terminals?

Thanks for any input in advance. Have a good day!

Enjoy Hurghada! I miss living in Egypt. Egyptian customs don't take too long, depending on the time of day. Note that you do NOT get your visa at the customs line, you have to go the bank first (it is not well signed - it is just a bank window that says "purchase visa here" on a typed paper sign when I was there recently). Pay in cash there, and hand the visa sticker and your passport to the gentleman when you pass through the customs line. I believe you will have to change terminals. There is a shuttle between the terminals (people will try to tell you otherwise!), but you may find it equally quick to just grab a taxi. They should be glad to do it (and you would be very much overpaying them) for about 3 british pounds (or 20 LE)

The MS flights are all in the same terminal and you will clear customs for checked luggage at the final destination. I think normal transit times will be sufficient here. I got through the airport quite quickly on my arrival last week.
