Hyatt Gold Passport - Award stay credited to wrong award category

In March of this year I made a telephone booking of an award stay in Madison WI at the Hyatt Place. At the time of the booking I verbally confirmed with the phone rep that he would deduct the award stay from my Hyatt Card anniversary award balance (and not my award balance for the original card sign up), as this was a lower tiered property.

Today I went to use my remaining sign up award card for a stay in New York City and it appears the wrong award category was applied. This means I no have only the anniversary reward remaining, which can only be used at a category 1-4 property.

Called Hyatt passport service; told they could not correct it. Asked to speak to manager; told they could not correct it.

I guess I should have been on top of this, but since I did not baby sit I am now out of luck. This is a $200+ mistake based on the differential between the Madison property and using the "anywhere" award at a higher priced venue.

Any ideas on how I may escalate since the phone representatives are not able to help?
