Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Earning points for a room reservation within your own block

I have a room block set up for an upcoming meeting at the Ritz and I am earning the rewarding events nights/points for the block. If I reserve a room in the block, should I expect to receive points on it?

I thought I read somewhere in the T&C that this is not possible, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has practical experience.

I think you should be able to do so, as long as you're paying for the room. I got meeting planner points for a conference I was in charge of, as well as the room I paid for. That was at a Renaissance though, not a Ritz.
