I opened a new account about a month ago to get the 4500 points and mine also showed as restricted for a few days. The points posted after about 3 weeks and I requested a status match to gold based on my platinum status with Priority Club. Got the status match and an email offering a "New Member Exclusive" of 12,000 bonus points for stay by June24.

Is your grandfather a current e-rewards member, in other words do you need an e-rewards membership or you can just sign up for this offer without being e-rewards member?

AFAIK you do need to sign up for e-rewards, as the gold points are a bonus you receive after signing up and completing your profile/survey for e-rewards.

How did you request the status match and how long is it good for? I'd like to follow the route you did in hopes of getting the email offer... TIA

Same thing today. I phoned Club Carlson and they said that although the offer was supposed to run through 31-May, e-Rewards terminated it early. (A bit odd, considering I received the offer less than 15 minutes ago when I joined e-Rewards.) I was told I could forward the Email with the offer to CC, and they would honor the offer.

I never got that mail even Mr. Nacho and I are both e-rewards members. Does anyone has a copy of that so I can send it to CC?
Thanks in advance!

Here is a way for folks who are new to Club Carlson to earn an extra 2000 points after their first stay:
The thread title is now misleading, though. This new promo has NOTHING to do with joining e-rewards, and also requires a hotel stay (which the e-rewards signup bonus did not).

Good point, I will edit the title to delete the reference to the 2k, which you correctly point out has nothing to do with the eRewards promo. I thought it might be helpful for the influx of people interested in the 50k promo, who may be looking for signup bonuses.
So for anyone reading this thread thinking, "shoot, missed it" -- yes, you missed the 4.5k eRewards promo, but you can still get an extra 2k points by signing up for a new account using the NEXTSTAY2K link.

Although I did register through e-rewards promo for the 4.5K, I did register early on before they killed the deal (5/7) and I was a long time e-rewards member, today I received an email confirming that I would get 2,000.
Remember to book and stay at any participating Carlson Rezidor hotel by August 05, 2012 to earn your 2,000 bonus Gold Points®.
So it "seems" that they will not honor E-rewards, automatically signed me up for NEXTSTAY2K.
Unfortunate, but either way bonus points are always welcome.

I registered 5/10 and got the same e-mail. No big deal.

I was told I could forward the Email with the offer to CC, and they would honor the offer.
While I'm still puzzled as to why CC thinks the early termination was the fault of e-Rewards (when the problem was that a CC site no longer accepted the promo code), I give a ^ to CC for posting the 4,500 bonus points as promised to me by phone when I contacted them about the issue.
BTW, I had also received an Email promising 2,000 bonus points for a stay, but did not receive those points.
