Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Transit in SIN

My friend will do BKK-SIN-DPS this coming Sunday. As the layover is just over 3 hours he would like to do catch up with me at the airport.

He is Thai so visa is not an issue. But since he is not paying SIN airport tax,can he gets out and meet me in public area?

I am assuming he will his SIN-DPS boarding pass issue to him in BKK

It's not a problem at all. Personally, I've gotten out of the airport during a 4-hour stop-over. Others have also done the same as well, joining the official free city tours if they have a stop-over of 5+ hours.

This is not BKK where one must pay tax once you leave airside. SIN only requires you to pay tax if you stay longer than 24 hours.

He may leave airport and meet you outside, in town or at Marine Parade for some makan makan (eat) if you want !

Yes, I did. No issue to get out to public area. He told me that the check in agent in Bangkok also told him he can exit in SIN. No need to "sneak" out
