So after arriving in IAH had about 2 1/2 hours to kill. Walked over to the food court in Term E and upon arriving there found the line to Starbucks was 35 deep and every other food shop was almost as bad. So to kill time took the underground tram over to Term A and it was like a whole other world there. No line at Starbucks, terminal was eerily empty and the skycaps were outnumbering passengers. If one did not know they were in Houston, it was like being in an airport in the Midwest US that had only a couple of flights a day.
Headed back to Term C on the underground tram and went up to the D & E parking garage for a smoke. Anyone who has gone up there to light up knows it was a fast and convenient way to go out and come back to Term E via the connector. However, the E connector is now only open from 0600-1300 and then one must use either Term C or walk through the garage back to the main Term E screening. When it was time to go back the scanner triggered off on me for a explosive hand swab and had to submit a sample, but was only delayed for about 5 min extra.

CO 7 IAH-NRT 777
Depart from Gate E7, Boarding group 1 Seat 32X

As a Premier Platinum was able to select row 32 at ticket purchase. Row 32 seats ABC JKL are exit row seats that has a lot of leg room due to the exit door, these seats are well worth it if you can't afford a J class ticket.
According to the flight map, the route taken was up to the Pacific Northwest, southern Alaska and then following the Aleutian Islands into Japan. Since this was a ex-CO plane no channel 9 but loads of movies on AVOD and this flight brought back Casablanca as one of the choices. Service was efficient and not surly has some bloggers have being complaining about lately on UA. The only difference was that no economy class menus were handed out. First meal was a choice of chicken or fish. Had the chicken and was not displeased with it. The catering out of IAH is still pretty good compared with catering out of the other hubs.
One thing that has changed, there are no more inflght manager title, they changed it backed to Purser, reflecting on UA titles. The Purser made announcements explaining what meal service to expect and when it would be served and the names of the flight crew and how long the flight was expected to take. The attendants made several water runs thoughout the flight.
The midflight snack was pig in a blanket and vanilla haagen daz ice cream. A little downgrade/disappointment in the snack as the last two times I flew on CO7 the midflight snack was cheeseburgers and ice cream. About an 1hr15min outside NRT the third meal was served and was a choice of eggs or asian style noodles. Had the eggs, wasnt bad but the noodles did look better tasting. After that, arrived in NRT on time at Gate 34
