Avis - Upgrade potential/inventory at SF - Post Street?

Searched around and didn't find a thread that really worked to piggyback on, so figured I'd start a new thead. Does anybody know what kind of inventory the SFO Post Street location has on hand? I have an expiring "Getaway" certificate so I'm doing a local rental tomorrow just to drive around the bay area and would like something nice. I have PC status, for what it's worth.

Does this location have MKZ, convertibles, or other decent upgrades? And what have experiences been with status upgrades here?

Thanks!

Neighborhood locations typically have poor selections. You're request is very specific, so I doubt you'll get much action here.

Best plan is to call location and ask.

Surprisingly enough, this one had quite a good selection. And for what it's worth, quite busy both times I went in. They were adamant on not going past the published upgrade (up to premium -- crown vic) benefit.

Told them most airport locations never give me pushback when asking for a specialty car but the best they could do was charge me the difference between my corporate full-size rate and the corporate premium rate (~$17 difference). Upgrade selections included BMW X3 and X5, Jeep Wrangler, Ford Mustang. I went with the X3 -- absolute fantastic car to drive for the day.

Incidentally, I was driving around to BMW dealerships to shop for my own car and all were shocked that 2012 X3s and X5s are being rented by Avis.

In addition to tourists, this location also serves lots of locals. Fridays and Saturdays can be very busy.

As an Avis First, I got a CTX for the E rate last year.

A bit late to the party but worth mentioning for future finders of this thread: If you've got CC or PC with Avis, it's worth calling them a few days out and requesting something specific. I did this a lot for stations near IAH (that got their fleet from IAH) and with 24 hours notice, they usually had no problem getting me an F150 or Caddy, depending what I needed with a midsize reservation (and a free weekend day coupon for the day I had the car). Using this, I was able to move mulch, plywood, sheet rock, etc. without needing my own pickup :D

As a PC I've never had luck with this at airport locations (try it every time) and I seldom rent from off-airport ones, but I'll keep in mind for the next time.

FWIW though...the entire charge got taken off when the PC cust svc rep went in to adjust my rate for the coupon (including upgrade fee). Paid about $5 in taxes for the day.
