How are base points calculated?

I'm looking at my activity and the points don't match up to euros/GBP spent, dollars after currency conversion, with or without incidentals.

Basically I can't figure out how they arrived at the number.

Looks like even though Euro rates are tax inclusive, when they send it over for points, they deduct the tax amount and award points on the base rate which is not displayed on the folio.

The conversion is in fact no clear.

It is correct that tax is (usually) deducted before points conversion.

However, I just had a scenario where I had a tax excl. rate of lets' say 100 Euros, and got like 800 points. Given the dollar is definitely not that strong, I enquired with HH and they apologised and adjusted the points to a seemingly more accurate (higher) level. So if in doubt, best to contact them, as their seem to be some issues occassionally.
