Southwest Rapid Rewards - Using Flight Credit AND RR points

Pretty much a noob here so bear with me. My wife and I each have WN flight credits from a trip last month that we had booked and paid for before becoming smart enough to get SW credit cards. Subsequently the fare dropped and we rebooked resulting in a credit. Can we use that credit along with RR points to book another trip or can we only use the credit on a flight paid for with cash (credit card)? If the answer is "NO, you can't do that" should I then book one way flights using the credit(s) and book another one way for the return? Thanks in advance.

You can't mix points and cash on one ticket. Everyone here will recommend that you separately book each person for each direction. That gives you the maximum flexibility to make changes online.
