All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - For ANA - Is Istanbul Europe or Asia?

I am looking at an ANA round-the-world ticket. Per the website policies:

In the case of Round-the-World tickets only, up to 8 stopovers are permitted between the origin and final destination. However, only 3 stopovers are permitted within Europe.

One of the places I am looking at going is Istanbul. Is Istanbul considered Europe or Asia for ANA? If it is considered Europe, what about other parts of Turkey farther east?

according to IATA Turkey is in Europe.

What about Georgia (as in former soviet Georgia)?

I just called ANA and they said Istanbul and Tblisi would be considered not Europe, and not count in the 3 stop-over in Europe limit.
