My wife and I are headed to Paris to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. I currently have two overlapping reservations and need to pick between the Park Hyatt Vendome and the Hilton Arc de Triomphe. After the first two nights at either of these we are moving to the Westin Vendome for another two nights.
The reservation details are as follows with a few pro/ cons. Does anyone have experience with these two hotels and recommendations?
Hilton:
Lost Diamond status after booking the reservation. Before losing status, received note from concierge that they would upgrade to best executive or suite available at check in
Currently reserved 1 King bed room
100K HHonors points for 2 nights (left with only 7K pts in my accnt)
Location seems to be not ideal
Hyatt:
Currently Diamond and understand this hotel gives free breakfast. Will lose status next year (not going to re-qualify at Hyatt this year)
Currently reserved 1 Queen bed room - hotel seems booked solid. Can't use suite upgrades on award stay
44K Hyatt points for 2 nights (left with ~26K)
Location and hotel sound amazing
I am leaning towards burning the Hyatt points so that even after the trip I will have ~100K HHonors points that can be used at a wider range of hotels globally... even if I am only Silver (at least I still have SPG Platinum).
Does anyone know what the likelihood of special amenities for anniversary, or other accommodations might be at these properties? Any experience between these two hotels?
