Star Alliance - Star Alliance’s 15th birthday - 15% off RTW's?
On the M&M pages there is an announcement for a competition to celebrate the Star Alliance’s 15th birthday.
In addition to winning some prizes there also seems to be a discount on RTW's:
15% off all Round the World tickets within the Star Alliance route network from 15 - 29 May 2012
Anybody know the (detailed) conditions of this promotion?

The Star website says check back on 14 May.
I saw that... but it's pretty useless :-).
I would like a little more time to plan if the offer is, for example, on all RTW's booked between 15-29 May. But it wouldn't surprise me when you have to start in that period as well to get the discount...

I don't see how they could require you to start one in that 2 week period, it usually takes a bit of advance planning.
However, if that was the case, one could always make the first leg a short domestic
hop, and then continue with the balance when needed.
15% off would be decent saving on a CRTW or FRTW, I'm in the midst of one now, and
even though I would not travel on the next one for a few months I would buy one
or two more to take advantage of the discount.
What a disappointing promotion, only for economy fares....
To celebrate our 15th Anniversary, the Star Alliance network is offering you a 15% discount on the Round the World economy class airfare, exclusive of taxes and surcharges.

I tried to book through Star Alliance website for RTW economy flight and this discount is not applied at all. I also tried to contact them using contact form at the website, it returned webpage error. It is very disappointing.

Yes, that would be a nice discount. But *A is way to clever for this so the discount only applies to Y. C and F get 0%.

Yeah, never mind the recent 15% increase in prices seen in some countries over recent months.

I find the same thing. I'm trying to book an economy RTW for December, but after selecting flights in the itinerary planner, the fare quoted gives no indication that a 15% discount has been applied.
Does anyone know how I can tell if the fare quoted includes the discount, or is it meant to explicitly show the additional discount? In short, how can I be sure I'm getting the discounted price?

I would generate a reference number for your itin and then call up the *A desk in Germany. They have pretty competent agents there. They are German LH employees.

I priced a RTW ex Tokyo and it is giving me the discounted price automatically as the base fare. I.e. it matches what I get from Expertflyer. ~USD 3400.

Final comment: I booked a RTW spcl fare from Seoul. This allows me to stop in TYO on the way back and I added a trip to Singapore to the itin. Used 25k miles and 5 stopovers, which is the max. The base price was only USD 2450, so a thousand cheaper than TYO where you cannnot book the spcl fare for some reason. I will be able to upgrade all the longhaul segments since they are on UA and LH.
BTW, you have until end of May 29 in your billing time zone and not where the trip starts, according to the agent in Germany.
