All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - New to a very slightly complex routing for an award

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to awards that are just Point A to Point B, so please bear with me. I'm trying to fly out of SFO and visiting NRT, HKG, and SHA (or maybe TPE). NRT has to be the first stop. SHA/TPE can be next or HKG can be next.

How would this be "priced" as an award (or for that matter, how would they price this as a paid route?)?

I need 3 tickets, have 210K or so Amex MR points and 40k or so SPG points, trying for a mid-october to early november trip of probably around 2 weeks, give or take a few days. Not adverse to paying for one of the tickets if need be. Just need to understand my options.

Thanks!

How about this itinerary?
One award ticket and one separate ticket are required.
SFO-NRT-TPE-HKG-NRT-SFO

ANA award (55,000 miles for one person)
1.SFO-NRT-TPE//HKG-NRT-SFO
I do not know exactly, but I guess surcharge and tax can be more than US$ 600 for one person.
The same routing ticket can be bought from ANA website at about US$ 1500.

Separate one way flight to buy
2.TPE-HKG (Eva Air, Cathay, or...)

Also, Taipei is good place to visit.

Thanks, that makes sense. I guess it'd be a similar routing for Shanghai as well. Taxes are a bummer, although I guess it's still 1.5c per mile/point value, which is better than I'd get with a gift card...
