Hello Folks,
Is there any specific rule regarding check in of tv a part of check in allowance ? I heard from some folks that Jet allows a max size of 46inches on their flights from BKK ( maybe because they only use B738's in this sector)..
Someone else told me they allow a max size of 42 inches for tv's..
Was checking their site but it does not specifiy anything ?
Any experiences in this regard ?
Thanks
Abhi
no idea about size....it would be best to get in touch with jet for a definitive answer....but there is some info on bringing tv's into india here:

did not speak to Jet but will try to do that tomorrow, but some folks confirmed having taken 46" tv's with them on 9W, so should be ok..
Thanks for the reply..

I had gotten a 46 inch this jan without a fuss. So you should be alright.

guys, what is the kind of duty you end up paying here once you get the tv?

There is a rule which charges you duty as per the price of the TV. There is a minimum threshold though. I bought a 32" tv last week (calcutta) and wasn't charged a dime..

If I remember correctly, if you are away for more than 3 days the limit is INR 25k if less then it is INR 8k. One laptop is exempt.
For the 46 inch Samsung smart tv I paid about 8k for the 40 inch it was about 4k. In ccu and del they wldnt even look at you for something as small as 32.

Yeah, 32" most models are less than INR 35k and the customs knows it well .. they are more interested to catch the folks with bigger tv's..
