FYI- This past weekend I took train 510 (Seattle-Vancouver) and returned the next day on 517 (Vancouver-Seattle), both of which featured Superliner trainsets (3 coach cars and one dining car) instead of the usual Talgo trainset. First time I've seen them used on this route. The conductor on the return said to expect Superliners on half of the Cascades services until late Fall while the Talgos undergo maintenance. Only downsides: no wifi or business class.

That trainset has been in rotation for quite some time on the north-of-SEA trains, where the time savings of higher Talgo speed limits is considerably less than south of SEA.

In any case, Superliner coaches compare favorably to almost any kind of corridor equipment out there in terms of ride quality and comfort (especially the coach varieties).

I think he means "half of the Cascades services" north of Seattle. I don't think you'll see them at all on the much higher utilized corridor between Seattle and Portland (or south of PDX, for that matter). (Not counting the daily Coast Starlight, which isn't technically a Cascades service but is often used that way between SEA and EUG).
