So i'm looking at January 6, 2013. I currently have OZ F LAX-ICN 12/25 on the outbound and inbound UA F NRT-SEA already booked using US Airways Miles.

I wasn't able to find any other way back to the west coast as my travel dates are firm. But I saw that NH has NRT-SEA in C, which might be 787 by the time Jan 6th hits. So my question is, would it be worthwhile to take that and give up the 30K extra miles?

This will probably be my last Intl trip for a few years so I wanted to go F to get the best experience and I was worried I would end up wasting it on an old UA 777.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! thanks!

You are assuming NH will open up award space on that route, but I have *read* many people rave about NH service in the premium cabin. Service-wise, I don't think you will take too much of a hit (unless you run into a superb crew on UA). Not sure how the hard products would compare though: F on UA777 vs. C on NH787 (assuming the 787 is delivered by then).

I'd take NH 787 C, assuming you can find the inventory. The UA F product just isn't that special to be worth the extra points IMO.

You will have a hard time finding availability on NH because of the New Year holidays.

NH may still be flying the 777 then.

F is not that much more expensive in points. I would fly F in UA.

You can usually book flights in Saver F close in on that route.
