I'm pleased and proud to announce that popular travel blogger MommyPoints (http://mommypoints.com) has agreed to speak at the May 9, 2012 meeting of the Austin (Texas) Retired Austin Travelers. Admission is free, and FTers and MPers are invited to attend.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, 2012, 1:00 to 3:00 PM. The location is the Austin Public Library's Oak Hill Branch, at 5125 Convict Hill Rd. in southwest Austin.

Noonish, either at Texas Rib Kings or Stiles Switch, probably Stiles Switch since we've recently discovered it and had a decent run last week.

I've just returned home from the Retired Austin Travelers meeting. MommyPoints's talk was a resounding success.

The room was full, and there were plenty of questions during her talk and more afterwards...along with a rush of people trying to get the business cards she had left.

@Middle Seat, many thanks for the invitation. It was such a pleasure to talk to that group of awesome retired travelers! It was also great to hear so many questions from a group where only a handful had used miles and points for their travels. Fingers crossed that number grows in the future. Thanks again.

Sorry I wasn't able to combine the trip with BBQ Thursday. I canceled my hotel reservation and did 7 hours in the car instead as I just didn't have the heart to tell my kiddo I would be gone another night. Hope to catch up with the Austin BBQ crew soon though!
