It seems like only yesterday when FlyerTalk celebrated the registration of its 100,000th member (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/communitybuzz/499991-when-will-flyertalk-proudly-welcome-its-100-000th-member.html).
As of the time this content was posted, FlyerTalk currently has 399,629 registered members.
When do you think that the 400,000th member will join FlyerTalk?
Although it is impossible to guess, would anyone also care to guess what the chosen FlyerTalk name of the new member will be?

On the first page of FT web site it right now states the number of members as 399.488.
It seems like only yesterday, there were some 140 more.

Canarsie suggested we offer a prize to the winner, and I'm in :) We'll do something nice for the closest guess.
Since this is pretty informal, it serves to explain the reason for the waxing and waning registration number:
On a daily basis, as you can imagine, we get hundreds of new registrations, some of which are great potential new FTers and some of which are spambots. We delete the spambots. So you'll see the total membership number go up and fall back a bit constantly as we battle the tide of fakies.
So the winner will be determined by when the 400,000th REAL member signs up and stays up.

Not really, not without going into the database; you are assigned an ID number, but that will generally be higher than your actual registration number.

BLACKJACK indeed!
"Real" FlyerTalk member #400,000 clocked in at 6:44am Pacific time on Friday May 4th, 2012. Since Blackjack-21 didn't select a time zone and we said that would default to FlyerTalk Time (i.e. where our office is located, here in El Segundo, CA), that means blackjack-21 was just an hour and 3 minutes off! Far and away the closest guess!
As to the IDENTITY of member #400,000... we may have to wait a bit, because he/she has yet to confirm the account via email. But it looks legit, not a spambot or massively-shared IP address, so we're going with it!

So we go away for one day on an overnighter, and I just find out that I've won!!! Sorry to be a day late answering, but thanks FT, and it's good to win. I'll PM you my details, to make it easier for the large 18 wheeler to deliver the FT goodies. Many thanks.
Now for the extremely scientific way that I figured out the day and hour. When I saw the intial figures, I guessed the date couldn't be too far off. As to the exact hour and minute.....my guess reflects my respect for that large, powerful bird called a B747, which we've enjoyed being on over many years, and so many of which are being replaced by the more fuel efficent twin engined aircraft. Hate to see them slowly disappear.
Thanks again for the win, and congrats to the 400,000th person to join FT. Hope their experience in learning and trying to help others on here is as enjoyable as it's been for us.
