I intend to use my Reward Night on Crowne Plaza Jakarta and I intend to upgrade the room to their club suite by paying the upgrade cost. However, when I asked to the hotel how much should I pay for the upgrade, the hotel told me that since Reward Night was valued at $ 0, therefore I have to pay full price of the Club Suite. They offered me that the additional cost that I have to paid is $254.10. :(
I checked the price for the Club Suite on the website and the rates are: $154.28 (Adv. Purchased Rate) and $205.70 (Flexible Rate). I believe that the reward night would be very useless if I use the reward night and pay the upgrade prices since I would lose my PCR Points plus paying higher rate. It's the first time for me redeem points on Reward Night. I wondered if there's anyone have experienced this? and...Is there anyone know if The Reward Night would be allocated to less-priority room since they consider it "free"?

I do not know about your specific properties but in the past asking the front desk at check-in always works. Many times I called ahead to ask for a paid upgrade and the people on the phone could not tell me a thing, but at check-in the front desk agent took care of it for me.
This is provided that they have the room available at check-in.

Thank you Fox85. I'm thinking the same thing. However, I call them in advance since I knew that is an old hotel so their standard room was not up to standard anymore so I'm afraid that I would end up on their old and standard room which I would avoid. I think that it might be the reservation tactics to increase revenues. :(

Hi Virtualaris -
Reward Night room upgrades are available for purchase on an individual hotel basis.
Hope that helps clear up your question!

Maybe you could use this opportunity to "educate" the hotel that it's not a good business strategy trying to rip off their customers (at least if it is done so openly).

Whould pay the 154 $ and hold my points. Seems to be cheaper

That's obvious. But the OP should slap this into the face of the hotel manager. I'm sure (that is "I hope") this was a genuine mistake, but this kind of offer shouldn't be made.

Perhaps you might know how to contact GM. I intend to put this as a feedback for the hotel. I wonder how many potential dollars would have been gone to their competitors if they are still insisting doing this.
Just wondering...if I came up and asking if I would like to have breakfast, perhaps they would charge me published rate of deluxe room + breakfast charges.

Eventhough it's cheaper but I rarely stay in my own city since I would prefer using it somewhere else when I go on holiday.
