For them wot care, I was in my local Costco (L.A.) on Sunday and saw that they had the 16yo Lagavulin on sale for about $52/bottle. It typically goes for around $65, so this is a very good price. For them wot care.

For those that don't know, Lagavulin is a single malt Islay Scotch whiskey. It has very pronounced peaty flavor (it's an Islay, after all) with honey and fruit (black currant) overtones, without being overly sweet like those aged in sherry casks. IMVHO it is one of the best whiskeys out there and the price makes it affordable as a "whenever you're in the mood" drink. Far superior, again in my VHO, to any of the JW blends, including JW Blue.

Hope naming names doesn't violate FT's T&C.

Disclaimer: I own Costco stock.:)

Good to know... I will check it out. I am more of a bourbon man myself... namely Willet 6-12 year for around the same price. I once came across a 125 year bottle.... but it was super $$. I bet that it was incredible though :D

When it's a special occasion, I drink Yamazaki 18. When it's a good night, I drink Lagavulin. Any other time it's Laphroaig.

I'll have to try the Yamazaki. If you get a chance, try a 30 yo Laphroaig, it's fantastic.

Indeed... the 30 and the Cask Strength are sublime...^

I just want to say you all suck for being able to buy booze at your local Costco.

Yeah, but you guys can get a CCW (concealed carry permit, for those that aren't familiar with gun law terminology) with not much more than a 4 hour gun safety/law "course.";)

When I was a Scotch Aficianado, I did not care for Lagavulin. It's far too "Peaty" for my taste. But to each their own.

For my money, I'd save a few bucks and go for what many Scotch Drinkers feel is the diamond in the rough, "Glenmorangie". Incredible Scotch for the price. That's for single malt lovers. For blends, I'd do "Passport". Both are lower cost than one might expect, at least here in the States, and exceptionally good quality for the money.

Not that I'd turn my nose up at a wee bit of Lagavulin, but if I had my drothers, I'd do Glenmorangie.

It's nice being alcohol free now. I save a fortune and my liver at the same time.

For all the rest, enjoy.

Cheers.
