Finnair Plus - AY62 - Which A330 will I get ?

Hi all,

just booked my next trip to Europe flying AY on the Asia/Europe/Asia segments. Will be flying AY 62/Sept. 14 and would like to know how good my chances are of getting one the birds with the new business class offering flat beds and single seats ?

As far as I know AY has 8 x 333 but only 4 have the new business class. Is it a 50/50 chance or will AY usually send one of the newly refurbished birds to HKG ?

Are you sure? (Note AY62, not AY69/70) It is scheduled as A330 right now.

AY62 is a "new" flight, a part of AYs increased service on HEL-HKG, starting summer 2012. So I think no one really can tell much about this service.

However, before AY62 was introuced, AY normally never used A330 on HKG-route. Actually, this route have been scheduled with the oldest A340s.

For the newest A330s, they are often scheduled on BKK, as they have the largest numbers of Y seats, and demand for Y is larger there than on HKG.

During the summer 3 A330's with new seats are to JFK, BKK and DEL.

So AY61/62 they are with old seats marked with 333

This flight from Australia really works well for me. You get a full day of work done, go home, pack, jump on a CX flight leaving at 0:55 hrs, get a good nights sleep to Hong Kong, short 1 hour 45 minutes transit time in Hong Kong just enough to take a shower and arrive in Europe on Friday evening.

Was just hoping I would finally get to try the new business class seat on AY's 330. On the way back I fly via Singapore so will get the usual 343.
