howdy all,

am looking for the best contact/firm in South Korean to sell me DAS17 fare.

has anyone dealt with either CX or QF local office in SEL on DAS17?

I have called both office already and whoever picked up the phone has no idea what i am on about. :(

Thanks in advance.

FWIW, routing is:

CJU-HKG(x)-BNE-SYD-PER-SIN-NRT(x, 787)-CTS-NRT-ICN

I've booked these (DAS13) out of Australia a few times from a local travel agent. Though it has taken some time to explain just what it is that I'm talking about. How are you describing the trip to the agent?
When I've have to explained it to a travel agent, I needed to use the full name "ONEWORLD CIRCLE ASIA AND SOUTH WEST PACIFIC EXPLORER" and fare basis (xASnn) to get them to understand. Even then, I've had agents price it as a normal multi city trip and not a circle trip.

I don't think that is a vaild routing. Oneworld took the link to the fare rules for the circle trips off the site, but I've found a copy dated 1 July 2011. http://staging.oneworld.com/tasks/download.cfm?objectID=1167

A maximum of 8 flight segments are permitted for the entire journey.
For the purpose of this rule, regions are defined as follows:
North East Asia – Taiwan, China, Japan, South Korea
South East Asia – Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam,
Cambodia
South West Pacific – Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea
You have 9 sectors and are going NEA-SEA-SWP-SEA-NEA.

Although I didn't get through to ticketing in this case, I once got CX to issue me a quote via email (i emailed the local CX office). At first they refused on the basis that my first flight wasn't on CX, but sent a quote when I hit them with the rule stating that AA and IB are able to ticket an xASnn even when they operate no flights within the permitted travel region. And stating that the first airline used ticketing wasn't a requirement and that the xONEx online tool (where I presume they got that 'rule' from) only did so due to a technical limit and not any defined rule.

thanks for the insight Himeno, i do have the QF local travel agency on email and will be sending my details soon along with your suggestions.

i've been wondering the definition of a segment for a while now and from your description, if i go from A -> B via C as i had to transit via C given no direct flight between A and B, this is counted as two segments with the DAS1X?

i had always thought transit point/s do not count toward segment and only stopovers do?

*update*

should have gone and re-read the explorer FAQ, segment is explained quite clearly there.

i shall go and re-work the route.

i had always thought transit point/s do not count toward segment and only stopovers do?Each flight number used is one segment. In most cases, one take off and one landing is one segment. There are some cases where two are counted as one segment, but those are one stop, same flight number flights.
For example, LHR-SIN-SYD QF2 is one segment. LHR-xSIN-SYD QF10-QF2 is 2 segments.

Do you have to start in Jeju? The biggest problem with Korea and oneworld is that most of the flights in/out of Korea are JL codeshares on KE, which can't be used for oneworld tickets.

GMP-HND-CTS-NRT-SYD-BNE-PER-SIN-HND-GMP would remove the region problem you have, making it a 'circle', but you still have the problem of the extra sector.

How many stopovers do you have? You're only allowed up to 5 free stopovers on a xAS17 with extras at a cost of 150USD each. It looks like you have 6. Removing one would get your sector count to the limit.

i've tidied up my routes and ended up with:

ICN-NRT-SYD-BNE-SIN-HND-CTS-NRT-ICN

The above uses up all 8 segments and the circle is formed by NEA-SWP-SEA-NEA.

*PER* was a nice to have side trip, but non essential.
