Hello All,

I am new to the forum and would like to ask a question,

In 2 weeks I'll be renting from LHR, I have booked class D, other than the Skoda what cars do they offer in the same class?

Also has anyone ever driven a Skoda Octavia? How did you find it?

Thanks:D

Welcome to FT!
It's been a few years since I've driven a Skoda, but the Octavia is based on the VW Jetta platform. Last drive, it worked out fine.

Skoda Octavia is a fine midsize but I feel it should not be considered as a familiy car, it is based on the VW Golf/Jetta. You should see it as a C class really. In the D category you will find more interesting vehicles, compact minivans which are great (Ford C-Max, Renault Scenic...) If you have the choice try one of these, especially if you need space.

I own an Octavia, and it's a great car. Yes, it's true to says it is based on the Golf/Jetta platform, however as it's a hatchback the boot/trunk space is very impressive, and much larger than other cars in it's class.

The Octavia is fine - the diesel versions are astonishingly economical.

That said, my experience in the last year with Hertz in the UK is that you rarely get the vehicle type that their confirmation says you'll get. Huge variability in the fleet.

Other likely possibilities include Mondeo (comfortable - a tardis, it's huge inside), Jetta or Passat (both totally capable and utterly dull) or Audi A3 (which I think is very cheeky for a 'D' - it might be a "premium" marque but it's quite small inside).

Thank You All for your welcome and response. I'll post what I get and my experience shortly. I will be arriving at LHR on May 8th.
