The BBC's fast:track recently featured NGCI in the story: Electronic tags promise to prevent lost luggage.
The video can be found at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/fast_track/9712086.stm
It profiles QF's system, alongside DL's and an international version to be launched by Amadeus soon. It's a great insight to the process (even more so for those of us who only take carry on domestically and have only seen QF's promotional videos).
Some interesting points:
The reporter, Carmen Roberts has a CL card, but a WP bag tag? (On closer inspection it appears to be a test card).
They can scan the entire hold for a precise location bag that needs to be retrieved.
Look at 0:42 and how confused the female pax is at the removal of check in desks, while the Customer Experience Manager describes how pax want to 'free flow' through airport environments.
QF claims it can track the bag anywhere in the world. How is that possible if it's only used domestically?
Why are there no Y pax on the 737, and who is the freaky man staring straight down the camera?
For those who want to iQ the program, it's on Sundays at 4:30PM on BBC World News, Channel 649 on Foxtel.
