Air New Zealand Air Points - chances of getting space seats

hi guys
got a seat only ticket out to Oz tomorrow on a 773
I have been keeping an eye out on EF and there is no more space-seats available....

am GE and was trying to risk my chances of getting a Y+ seat. R is still 6 and I guess I can still clear that with 250 APD instantly.

does anyone know or has any experience if AirNZ hold those Y+ seats? I tend to think that EF is quite accurate, but then the loading on J is terrible.... only 6 seats are taken atm

Well 'apparently' you should be able to request one at check-in if seats are available, however if its showing as allocated I would not be surprised if 48 hours before flight they just fill the seats up. Others have commented on this before...

thanks for this.. would it be possible to tell me more how that is?
does it mean that AirNZ will up everyone on a work deluxe/work up on their behalf before GE? As it is not possible for me to select into these Y+ seats...
still considering if I should just pay 250 APD as a part of the "exit" plan....
